GRAPHIC DESIGN (Associates Degree)

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Graphic design is the basis for the variety of images, layouts, typographical treatments used for visual communication.  Corporate identity logos, consumer packaging, and multimedia presentations all utilize the skills of a graphic designer.  This program has been developed to provide students the knowledge and skills sought after in this rapidly growing field.  The program includes areas such as advertising, computer artistry, digital imaging, freelance designing, web designing, broadcast graphic artistry, production artistry, layout design, and/or flash animation needed for entry-level positions.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE:

The following objectives are designed to meet the school's mission and program goals:

  • To develop student computer skills
  • To provide students the principles of design
  • To provide students the necessary tools used in basic graphic designing
  • To introduce students to a variety of design layouts
  • To develop student to typography knowledge and skills
  • To introduce students to the basics of marketing

To assist graduates in using the knowledge and skills learned in gaining entry-level employment in the field of graphic design.
